November 2004 - June 2005: The Provisional Year In 2004, the Rotary Club of Columbia brought four people, who didn't know each other, together and attempted to create the first community based Rotaract Club in Maryland. Although we didn't know each other we got along well, and celebrated our first event, the donation of a tree, in honor of Earth Day to Howard Community College. We also began our tradition of participating in the annual Howard County Boatfloat. At the very end of the 'Rotaract Year' we are offically chartered. Membership: 4 Core People: 4 Meeting Location: Howard Community College, The ILB Building. July 2005 - June 2006: A Club is Born! Although chartered, we continue to struggle at finding new members. With some help from the Capitol City Club in Washington, DC, we change our approach and begin meeting at a new time and location. New events are incorporated, such as Christmas in April, and the March of Dimes. Membership: 5 Core People: 4 Meeting Location: Fuddruckers Meeting Time: Wednesdays, 7pm President: Eric Wolvovsky Vice President: Bela Saini(stepped down in January) Stephanie Spivack Treasurer: Carla Haas Secretary: Eric Wilkinson June 2006 - July 2007: Growth This year yet more projects are attempted, a clean-up of Fort McHenry, the adoption of a section of MD-175, and Relay for Life. Some old favorites make a return, such as Christmas in April. With a person dedicated to recruiting and a better meeting time and place, membership begins to climb. June 2007 - July 2008: New Faces With new, and a still expanding membership, a very different group took control of the board for 07-08. Their history is yet to be written. Membership: ?
