Adopt-A-Highway
As a part of our commitment to maintaining the beauty of our community,
Rotaract of Howard County is a participant in the State Highway
Administration's Adopt-A-Highway program. The Adopt-A-Highway program
is designed to stop waste and trash along Maryland's state roadways by
utilizing volunteers to periodically collect litter from adopted
sections of roadways. Our organization has adopted a section of Route
175 in Columbia between Dobbin Road and Tamar Drive (near Fuddruckers). There are four cleaning events held every year--two in
the fall and two in the spring. For more information on the Adopt-A-Highway program,
visit the State Highway Administration's
web site.
All participants must watch the following video and complete the following form.

Fort McHenry Restoration
This project is coordinated through the National Aquarium in Baltimore's conservation efforts. The goal of this project is to restore a marsh at the fort to the
condition it was in at the time of the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812. The industrialization of the city of Baltimore since that fateful day in
September of 1814 has devastated the local ecology. This is a great opportunity to clean up one of America's most polluted waterways and to visit the
birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem. All materials are provided by the Aquarium.
